Departments: Adopt-A-School Program

Fort Worth ISD Adopt-A-School Program

Purpose:  To engage businesses, community organizations and faith-based organizations in strategic activities with schools to improve student achievement.

Highlights:  There are over 260 Adopt-A-School partners matched with schools.  Partners support student achievement by their sharing of business/community resources, perspectives and innovative ideas.  The steadfast devotion of Adopt-A-School partners positively affects the lives of Fort Worth ISD students, teachers and families.

How the Adopt-A-School program works:  A company or organization is matched with a school based on the needs of the school and the company’s or organization’s available resources.  A school may have more than one adopter, and any size business or organization can make a difference.

Activities and programs are planned to support the goals of the school and to positively influence academic achievement.  Some of the activities implemented include pen pal programs, tutoring, mentoring, exploration of higher education and career opportunities, workplace exposure and incentives for academic achievement, attendance and behavior.

Age group served:  All grade levels, PreK-12, are served through Adopt-A-School partnerships.

Schools served:  All Fort Worth ISD schools are eligible.

Time commitment:  The time commitment is flexible, ranging from implementation of annual activities to opportunities for involvement on a weekly or monthly basis.
