FWISD Student Placement Center Ready for New School Year

Fort Worth – Each year the Fort Worth ISD Student Placement Center helps thousands of students who have a language other than English at home, register for school. Registration and testing for the 2008-2009 school year will begin on Monday, August 11th.

The Student Placement Center is part of the Bilingual/ESL Department and, in addition placement testing and registration, can provide many valuable services for new students and their families.

Services for Students

• Transcript translations
• Bus information
• School assignment information
• Immunization information
• Counseling services

Services for Parents

• Information about the Fort Worth ISD
• Assistance in filling out forms such as free and reduced lunch applications, if needed
• Referrals to the Migrant Coordinator, if needed
• Assistance with notarized statements
• Referrals to special programs

“Each year we register/test about 3,000 new students enrolling in FWISD for the first time,” said Chris Criswell, Coordinator for the Student Placement Center. “We are a great resource to help students and parents navigate the registration process.”
