Paschal High School’s Jrotc Rifle Team Wins Again

Fort Worth Cadet Xentri Garza, an incoming senior at Fort Worth ISD’s R.L. Paschal High School has been crowned the American Legion’s Air Rifle (Sporter Category) Individual National Champion. Cadet Garza won the competition held at the U.S. Olympic Center in Colorado Springs, August 5-10, 2008. She was one of the nation’s top fifteen sporter shooters invited to compete.

In addition to finishing first overall, Cadet Garza also captured the gold medal for the prone position, the silver medal for the kneeling position and the bronze medal for the standing position. As the National Champion, Cadet Garza was presented with a $2500 college scholarship.

In addition to winning the American Legion’s National Championship, she also won the JROTC Individual National Championship in March and finished third at the National Junior Olympics.

Cadet Amanda Aguilera, also from the Paschal High School JROTC Rifle Team, finished 10th overall and earned a fourth place pewter medal for the prone position.

“I know that this experience for our students has been exceptional and the memories will last a lifetime,” said Charles Boyd, , Charles Boyd, Assistant Superintendent for Secondary School Leadership. “The FWISD JROTC program continues to be a source of great pride for our district.”

The shooters were coached by Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Terry LeBoeuf,the Senior Army JROTC instructor at Paschal High School.
