FWISD Board Of Education Considers Employee Pay Increase

Fort Worth –At the regularly scheduled Fort Worth ISD Board of Education meeting on August 12th, Trustees were presented a proposal which, if approved, would increase employee pay by 3%.

The proposal calls for $12 million to cover the suggested increase for most employees. An addition $2.2 million will be used inside the teacher salary schedule to make those salaries more competitive.

The employee pay enhancements are part of an overall District budget package of $571.4 million that was initially presented to the Board of Education in July.

Public comment on the District budget is scheduled for the August 26th, 2008 Board meeting. Immediately after the public discussion session, Trustees will have the opportunity to vote on the proposal and the 2008-2009 tax rate. The tax rate is proposed to be $1.257 cents per $100 valuation. Since the Average Market Value of a residence in the District is $108,915.00, the anticipated tax increase for such a homeowner would be $146.00 annually.
