Ramped Up Security Results in Arrests of Seven Would-be Thieves

The Fort Worth Police Department, working with the District security employees, arrested four more individuals in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Police say the four men were attempting to burglarize two separate campuses. This is in addition to three people taken into custody the night before.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, July 26, Fort Worth Police Department and FWISD Security responded to Kirkpatrick Elementary School. Police dogs located two unidentified men inside the school. A few hours later, FWPD and school security again responded to Southwest High School, where two additional males were apprehended. Charges against all four men are pending. Early Thursday morning, July 24, police arrested three individuals – two men and a woman – at W.M. Green Elementary School.

The District doubled security patrols at all of its buildings last week and took unspecified, extra measures to protect the campuses after metal thieves stole copper wiring from two FWISD earlier this month.

The District also joined with Crimestoppers to offer a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. That reward is still available. Anyone with information about activity in the area of South Hills High School at that time can report it anonymously to Crimestoppers at 817-469-TIPS.
