First Day of School for Fort Worth ISD is August 25th

Be in school “The First Day, Every day and On Time!” That’s the message the Fort Worth Independent School District wants to convey to students and parents for the 2008-2009 school year. The first day of classes is Monday, August 25th.

“Everyday is a valuable learning day,” said Melody Johnson, FWISD Superintendent. “If students are not in class on time, everyday, including the first day, they are not getting the education and chance to succeed that they deserve.”

Parents are always welcome at schools in the Fort Worth ISD, but especially on the first day of classes. While teacher-parent conference times are always available later in the school year, establishing a parent-teacher connection on the first day of school can have a significant impact on a student’s achievement.

“Families are our partners in the education process,” said Robert Ray, Assistant Superintendent for Elementary School Leadership. “By monitoring student progress and checking with teachers regularly, parents provide crucial elements to student achievement.”

Check with your local campus for specific information regarding activities on the first day of classes. Additional important information regarding class preparations is readily available on the FWISD Web site, www.fwisd.org. Bus schedules, vaccination requirements and school supply lists are just a few of the essential items that can be accessed.
